Do I need 550's or 440's?
Hello all.
At the moment I'm in the process of pulling alittle more power out of my 96 version WRX Impreza.
I've near enought got asll the bits I just short of the injectors at the moment.
I was goona get some 550's, but someone has just offered me a cheap set of new 440's, and in so doing said I would need 550's for the power I was after anyway.
Now he could just be saying this to try and sell them, but I thought I'd best put it out there and see what you guys think.
I've got a hayward &scott decat down pipe, scooby sport equal lenght manifolds, Apexi power FC and power intake, revolution decatt exhaust, HKS dump valve, Fuelab fuel pressure regulator, walbro fuel pump, TD05 Turbo, lightweight pulleys, FMIC and lightened flywheel.
I'm looking for 300bp to 330bhp. I might look to take this up again in the future but not by much. because of that reason, and the fact I think 440's would be at their limit anyway, I think 550's would be better.
What do you guys think?

440s with a good adjustable regulator (like your fuellab) set properly will be enough for 330bhp, If you are think of pushing closer or beyond 350 then 550s is the way to go.
Without having a set target it is difficult to advise, but as a rule of thumb:
380cc ok for approx 300bhp
440cc 350bhp
550cc 440bhp
650cc 520bhp
All of these assuming adequate fuel pressure.
