This may be a silly question but are you sure the noise is comming form the turbo?

It would be more likely to be a drive belt or alternator or power steering pump making that kind of noise at idle.

Could also be cambelt tensioner.

Worn turbos usually smoke before failing.

If its doing it at tick over and you arent moving when you tap the throttle, then its not going to be the turbo.

As above - more likely belt noise, or a worn bearing.

If the noise happens when driving, then it could be turbo related - failing turbos sound like distant police sirens

Yup. My UR Quattro did that and I always slowed down thinking I was about to be nicked.

certain its coming from the turbo. its does it when iam driving, or when i rev the car, i was told by a mate of mine that it is likely to be the bearings in the turbo.

If you switch off the engine, you should hear knackered Turbo bearings whining as the Turbo takes longer to slow down.

Agree with above tbh.
Have you checked the power steering fluid recently
