Default New guy needs tuning info

Hi new to all this subaru malarky but looking at buying an impreza. There are so many variants out there its a bit confusing!

If i was to get a UK Turbo 2000 model on an X plate What would be my first steps to lift the power? I ask this as a wrx seems to have an extra 50bhp or something.

Thanks in advance and apologies if my question is in the wrong bit or just plain stupid!

The wrx over a uk do generally have more power this is due mainly to the later wrx running on a higher octane fuel in japan therefore they use more aggressive timing. The imports are generally better specd as well (earlier cars are anyway)

However, you can achieve the same power levels with a remap (think an x plate is ecutek), a decat downpipe is a good starting point that will help the engine breathe a little better and will aid turbo response etc

You can Ecutek3 any Impreza 99 on.

On my UK Turbo MY00 I changed the panel filter, downpipe (Ninja sports cat), centre decat, backbox and remapped via tek3 to 273bhp/273lbft.
