Default answer to boost problem?

did a thread on here a bit ago about a boost problem, where in higher gears, its going, then retarting then going and so forth at a steady pace. i have, what i believe to be some sort of fuel pressure reulator under the bonnet, with a little gauge showing something there, but no gauge, controller etc in the cabin.

could this be the source of the problem. if so, how the **** do i get rid of this ****ty thing off my car, get a oem one on and have a steady boost like i had in my old knackered wrx?

cars a uk my99 turbo. have a couple pics if it helps anyone. if knowbody can help, looking at going to get the car on a rolling road to source the problem.

besides boost, car runs fine.

As mentioned before the boost surge is probably due to too much duty in the boost map. A Fuel regulator would not effect the boost characteristics.

A good place to start would be to clean out all the 3mm boost control pipes with brake cleaner i.e the one from the turbo to the actuator via the t-piece and the t-piece to the boost control solenoid.

In the pipe between the turbo and t-piece is a small brass restrictor pill, this may need opening out a bit, but only by a knats as .1mm can make quite a difference. It should be about 1mm as standard, i think the TD04 used a 1mm and the VF28 a 0.9mm

So I would Knock up a few brass restrictors and adjust the size until it stops surging.
