Default type r problem any1 help

Hi there going to buy a 1997 type r that has developed a problem when it is cold drives fine asoon as it heats up if you go over 3,500 rpm it coughs and splutters and there is a smell of petrol when cold fine the guy says it has a crack in the manifold on the turbo side and there is a sensor that is playing could this be the prob any help be gratefull

sounds like it could be the coolant temperature sensor. If this is faulty it can cause similar problems to what you are experiencing, it may be sending a signal to the ecu that the engine is cold and therefore injecting more fuel than is needed hence the petrol smell when warm.

To be honest though there are plenty of cars out there so unless you are getting a bargain then personally I would walk away.....

I'd agree with the above staement, it sounds like it running with the choke out!

dont buy it, look elsewhere.
