Default Quickshift - Why Bother

Really - Would you bother with a quickshift for the money? I did for my 02 WRX but now can't make up my mind if the benefit to cost ratio is enough to bother investing in for my 02 STI.

At the end of the day all it does is shorten the lever throw. It doesn't actually speed up the gate entry/ exit!?

think you need a different car mate, benifits to cost ratio, get a grip ov yourself, quickshift definately makes big improvement

mine works just fine. I would not pay more than £30 though. I much prefer the feel of the short shifter. Everyone to their own!!!

I have the Subaru ( read full linkage ) short shift on my 02 wrx

I wouldn't go for it again and I question if it was worth the £50 I paid for it second hand

I found the gear change to be very notchy when fitted - the std shift is far from long to start with

others dissagree - I have the short shift and am not a fan

hi,

seriously guys is it any good or not? just considering putting it on my new wrx. been quoted 270 fitted at the dealer but thats for the whole prodrive linkage as well as shift. or do i go for b&m which is the lever only and a diy job for 120?

would like to know if its worth it or not.

cheers.

my06 wrx sport wagon.
prodrive back box.
green panel filter.

Turn £270 into a percentage of the whole cost of the car and then decide.

For the sake of £300, i would.

Had short shift on the RB5 as std, big difference when i drove a mates std scoob without one.

I can't compare with the classics but I can speak for the newage. the box must be somewhat improved because the quickshift makes little difference (certainly on a 2002 onwards).

The cost must be considered in comparison to the benefit derived from the result of the mod, not the cost of the whole car.

And the cost fitted from a dealer is in the £250+ region. So major pat on the back to those who managed to do this mod for 99p or even 50 quid!. If I could do the whole job for less than £150 I wouldn't think twice about it.

The STi already has a shorter change linkage I think, which is why ppl with WRX are saying it's better than you have found it.
