Default How to remove centre dash-top box?

This sounds really stupid, but I can't see how to get my centre dashtop box off my dash so I can fit my new gauge pod. I've popped the two small plastic covers off which reveal the screws underneath, and I've undone them. I've pulled out the cup holder thing and undone the two screws that hold that in.

Nothing's moving. You can wiggle it about, but nothing is ready to come off and I don't want to prise at the edges in case I snap something. Help!

Is this on a MY98-00 dash?

Some amount of brute force is required to unclip the tray from the dash.
I find pulling horizontally towards the back of the car is the best way.

As Andrew has just said.

I just removed mine 10 minutes ago to try my centre pod.
I used the latch (not lid) to help grip & pull the tray towards me to get the thing out. There are 2 plastic pegs, one on each side which help hold the tray to the dash. These are by the side of the tray by the vents. Thats why you need to pull a little harder.

Got it, many thanks. In the end I put an old rag through the latch thing and pulled on it hard and it came free. I'd not have dared if I hadn't known it was supposed to come off like that! Looks like the routing for the wiring is pretty straightforward though.
