Hi have just purchased a de cat downpipe 4 my93 wrx........... is it essential i re map or will it be fine?!!.................only other mods are dump valve, induction kit and sports exhaust right through?! any help would be great!!

I would say definately remap required, for both safety and power reasons - why decat and then not reap the full benefit....

fair point my friend............................in the short term tho will the de cat without re map be ok?.............no damage etc

Agreed you will get greater gains by having a remap, but also not essential at this point in my opinion. If you add the fmic to the collection then I would defiantly look to have the car mapped

u shouldnt damage anything without remapping, you will however feel a massive difference in response, although slightly mis-leading as u will only gain 2-5hp but it will feel more like 20, but this is because u will be getting quicker turbo spool up. if u havent had the car mapped b4 i.e. stock ecu remapping will be expensive BUT OMG!!! it is definately worth it, gains in region of 40-50hp and ib/ft of torque are well within reach and even more if u decide to go all the way anf fit fmic, with an uprated fuel pump, but this doesnt come cheap, bolt the exhaust on c if ure happy and take it from there, gl!
