Really struggling on over-revving problem
Hi all, im at a loss with my car at the moment and i really need some help to solve my continual problem.
I have a 95 1.6 impreza, and since a couple of weeks ago when it rained heavily ive had a problem with the car over-revving, both on idle and holding the revs when changing gear.
This is the list of problems i thought it maybe and have since fixed to ensure its not them:
1)sticky throttle cable-wd40 sprayed all over, moves and retracts fine
2)idle air control valve(solenoid)- replaced with a used part that was tested before and does work fine
3)air flow meter- replaced again with a part that was tested and does work
Ive also sprayed carb cleaner throughout intake and tested there was no leaks along the piping.
So what is it?!?!?!
The car starts ok and idles fine, then when put into gear to start to move the revs shoot up to 1500rpm, and they stick at this when changing through the gears too, so im effectively riding the clutch every gear change.
It did have an induction kit but its back to a standard box now, and ive reset the ecu with no luck.
Anyone got any ideas what it maybe or experienced anything similar?
Thanks in advance for any help...Paul
