Default Crank Sensor

Hi all.

This evening on my way home i pulled into a garage and checked my tyre pressures. When i went to restart the car it just turned over and never fired.
RAC said it was the crank position sensor. After getting home and trying the car again, it is starting but struggling. Searches on this forum have confirmed that its time for a new sensor!

Right, my question is, are there any differences between sensors in different models?

The faulty car is a MY93 JDM 1600 Impreza (winter run around) And i wanted to know if i can fit a crank sensor from a wrx / turbo 2000 ? Just for ease of sourcing a part?

Thanks in advance!

is the crank sensor off rb5 same as 1600?
if they are different it could give the same symptoms as a faulty one
try the one off 1600 on the rb5 and see what happens that way round
