Must Be My Thermostat??????
Guys, I need help.
Still seem to be getting a running water sound after emptying, filling, Emptying, filling etc.
but anyway, Have tried all solutons on here to no avail but one thng I have noticed and obviously more noticable at this time of the year is,
The ammount of time it takes for the bloody heater to start working from cold start up.
Would this be my Thermostat??????????????? or is it likely to be the damn air lock coming back to haunt me???
If t is the Thermostat then I would appretiate any help in locating /fitting a new one including any pics
many thanks in advance
Matt
p.s Once temp guage starts reading Normal, Heaters still blowing cold

Is the car overheating when you drive it?

could be your stat, could also be the heater matrix, or air in the system.
First things first, are you actually losing coolant?
If so then could be the heater matrix, check around the passenger footwell for dampness (sometimes when the matrixes go you can get dampness in that area), a leaking matrix could also explain the gushing sound.
also when you have refilled the system, did you have the heaters set to hot and switched on?
A good way of filling the coolant system is via the top engine hose, I find less chance of getting air in the system this way, then once near max connect back up and then top up via the header.
To locate the thermostat, assuming you are in a classic (dont know about the newer cars) the stat is located in a housing that the bottom rad hose connects into. The housing is held to the block by I think 3 bolts (M8 type I think), simple to remove but a bit fiddly, be careful removing the bolts as if they are aged then they can shear off. When I have changed my stat, I have got replacement bolts at the same time. When you replace//refit the stat dont use any gasket compound as it isnt needed. There is a rubber seal on the stat that prevents any leaks. Dont overtighten the bolds either.
Good luck

No Un-Ink, The Car Is not overheating.
Jay, I am not losing any coolant but I suspect there may be a bit of ar in the system,
When Re-filling I did have the heater on full and on High,
And Yes it is a Classic UK MY95
Maybe have to Try an Alterante way to fill the system as the previous times were via the header tank
Cheers
