TAPPET NOISE? 01 BUG EYE WRX
Hi i've recently noticed that from cold my bug eye is making a tappet like noise? It's not the injectors as they are ticking this noise is louder. The valve clearances should have been checked/adjusted at 60k and the car has now done 68k without major service, any ideas please?
Thanks in advance!

Mine used to do this on really cold mornings until the engine was warmed up...
Swopped my oil.... the garage had used 0W-30 way too thin!
apparently the oil was too thin and escaped the hydraulic tappets before they could pressurise properly....? Changed for 10W-50 tapping gone now....Me happy!
Cheers,
Plums.

I use Mobil 1 generally because it's easily available and I believe in it, 10W-50 is my viscosity of choice. Lot's of scoobynetters are religous about their brand of oils
Castrol Rs 10W-50 is my prefered oil due to it's exceptional protection but not widely available in Switzerland, although could be a little too thick for winter use?
