Default WRX Sti engine into a 99 Turbo 2000?!?

Hiya,
Does anyone know if it is possible to put a 99 WRX Sti engine into a Turbo 2000? If so, what needs to be done to the wiring loom etc for it to work?
My friend bought the engine with intention of doing the swap, but looking at the two engine's the manifolds seem to be different and the wiring is definitely different.
We were both under the impression that they were essentially the same engine with the only differences being the turbo, ECU and a few other parts.

PLEASE HELP!!!

would suggest that the engine you have is not a 99 one then..................

should be a straight swap, apart from the red manifold

when you said the manifold are different, do you just mean different colour?

Ignore that, its complete nonsense.

I have done this!!

Its dead simple as its a straight swop. You don't have to change the wiring loom. You dont have to swap any connections over on the ECU although I would however advise a remap of the ECU. Other than that its very straight forward indeed.

Basically I dropped the Version 5 STI engine into my 99 UK turbo 2000 it fired up first time and ran on the UK ECU. I did have the ECU remapped after wards.

Hope that helps

Daz

i dont want to write new topic so i ask here.

Im planing to swap V5 sti R to uk 2000 MY99 (GT type outside UK). Will STi ecu work on UK200 Loom?
Do I have to change loom for STi?

I read somewhere that loom is different. Sti has intake tmp sensor and bigger diameter of MAF sensor. Is it true? Dooes somebody have wiring diagram (pinou) for V5 Sti Typer R?

Thanks for all answers.

Sorry for poor english.
Cheers Peter

The MAF tube diameter on all 99/00 turbo cars is the same. The wiring loom, however, is different. As you say, your GT does not have an intake air temp sensor and I don't believe the cabling for it is included in the UK/Euro loom. There are also other changes.

You can make it work though, it's a relatively simple job provided the engine going in is a version 5/6 one.
