Default MY05 STi JDM, Will it need remap if so will this increase power?

Hi,

Got a JDM 2005 STi, I use V-Power (99ron) in it, so will it need a remap or will the engine be safe.

If i did have it remapped will this increase the power or MPG at all.

I would get a remap anyway as its an import, i would focus on cars reliability first then power.

as for MPG you dont buy subarus for that. i get 200miles a tank till the light goes on.

i had mine remapped @ Powerstation with Downpipe cat - 328bhp & 300lbft

then with Full decat, CAI, 3port - 356bhp & 350lbft

You may find it dets above 5000rpm on straight v-power with the standard jdm map.

Having the car mapped for V-Power can increase performance if that's what you want. It is possible to adjust it for uk fuel by simply adjusting the timing to stop it detting, and leaving everything else such as boost and fuelling the same. If you do this though there might not be much difference between this and a uk car. Not many people do this, if you're going to pay for a remap you might as well have it done to get the most out of the car at the same time, the cost will be the same.
