Default Apexi power fc and CEL

Is there some setting on the power fc to tell the CEL light to come on at a certain point?
I ask this because my CEL allways comes on at 5500rpm but there is no loss in power, no strange noises and my scooby just keeps pulling!
Just a bit concerned, don't want it blowing up on me.

Normally the CEL light is programmed with the PFC to come on when the car is "detting".

I would get this checked straight away. It could cause some major problems in the near future if your car is running lean over 5500rpm...

Yes that's right. How modified is your impreza? If the PFC has been mapped, contact the mapper to advise you on possible reasons why it is detting....

Had it for a month now, just been imported. 94 wrx.
Dont know much but scoobys but it's got this:

Apexi pfc and commander
FMIC
Apexi induction
high pressure fuel pump and regulator
Full decat
Equal length headers

Guy who imported it say it also got an Apexi turbo?

I haven't heard of anyone using an Apexi Turbo before... You will be able to tell by looking at the model numbers on the turbo.

What Fuel are you using? If the car was mapped in Japan, Its most likely to be mapped to 100RON fuel. Use V-Power with Octane booster and if you get the same result, I would advise you to get the car looked at by a specialist.

It could be a fuelling issue or its been mapped to japanese fuel and needs a tweak for english fuel....

How much boost is it running?

i've done a search on apexi turbo and i havn't found anything either!
Tried looking at the reading on the fc commander when driving to see how much boost i've got but it's hard work so i'm waiting till i get me boost gauge!

What is "acceptable" knock level cos i'll keep an eye on that now till i get a map sorted.

What knock reading are you getting on the hand controller?

You don't have to keep your eye on the commander. After you have driven the car and, while the car is still running, you just have to press the "up" arrow on the commander and the peak readings for each measurement appears in black next to the current reading.

I have seen that high too, once or twice in the summer.

My CEL light has been set to 50, my mapper advised anything below is acceptable.

Any reading you choose. If you choose the 8 channel measurement and do it then, you can check a lot of different measurements and the Max on each, which would be useful. I.e; Boost, Inj Duty, Knock, Ign Timing etc....

Just gave the scoob a boot up the bypass.
According to the peak readings on the commander, @5800 RPM i have:
1.06Kg/cm2 (15.2psi) boost
Knock reading of 50.

Not too bad then. What you need is someone with some detcans/rolling road just to make sure.

For the sake of 70 quid or whatever it cost's for a power run it's got to be worth it.

if you press the bottom right button on teh commander (the SET button) it will change any of the displays from a numeric readout to a graphed display over a 10 second period
...handy for boost and knock watching
..........works on multiple monitoring too

although 50 is yer max...I wonder how often its AROUND 50???

If there is 50 on the PFC for knock at 5800rpm, it's most likely it will increase as the revs increase- Not healthy!

As T50LF said get it checked by a specialist and find out why its detting so much.

Yeah definitely, I recommend Andy F, he mapped mine- A total Wizard

If your not far from Northampton then I'd got to Paul Blamire from Zen another Wizard with the Apexi

No sorry.

That's the best thing as long as they are some sort of specialist and have a decent reputation, im sure they should be able to sort it.
Good Luck

does the CEL flash on and off or just come on?

if just coming on then mostlikely maxxing the injectors out.. try monitoring Inj Duty..

I haven't seen many come in from Japan that have been mapped... usually they are on the standard base map whcih is very rich and too much ignition for UK fuel.

It flashes like mad! Went out earlier and i had a reading of 63! Needless to say i'm now taking it easy.
When it ticks over it does smell rich and she's pretty thirsty.
What should injection duty read aprox?

sounds like it needs mapping for uk fuel.. couple of choices - get it mapped, try using booster along with the V-power to up the fuel RON and see if it helps, buy a standard ecu until you decide what to do..

injector duty will vary with useage and how the car is set up. . just a thought if the light was coming on solid and not flashing then it might have been the injectors maxxing out and the warning for that.
