oil cooler ? lack of it ????
hello people,
I recently blew a hole through my piston on my 95 wrx,
Have got a replacment block with heads all in ,
was fitting it up today with the manifolds etc and noticed that it has no oil cooler ???
where as my 95 has ?
There is a blank over where the feed into the block goes ?
Also the cam pullys are plastic were as my 95 ones were metal ?
Please help , will i need to fit the oil cooler ?
Thanks Lee

They dont have a proper oil cooler as such (i.e an air to oil cooler) but have a water to oil cooler known as a modine (water flows around the modine at the base of the oil filter.
I am pretty certain all Impreza turbo's have this, but i have seen blocks from legacys that do not have it. Maybe the sport imprezas don't either. The water pumps are also missing a take off to go across to the oil filter on these engines.
What is your new block from?
later STI classics certainly have 3 plastic pulleys and the top right one is metal.
