Most backboxes alone will give the rumble, some louder than others, it also depends on how many CATS are in the system too. (None = louder).

if you have full prodrive system replace the centre section (which is a crappy mild steel standard part) with a straight through 2.5 inch pipe this will give you more rumble and a few horeses. They are about £80 from to fast to cool on ebay !

HKS Silent Hi-Power.
Discreet when cruising, with a lovely sound when pushing. Expensive though...

I've got Scoobysport at moment, straight through without resonator. Like the sound, not too loud on motorway and nice burble.

Might take a look at the revolution one at some point, the full system gets good ratings from ppl who know about flow etc.

funkyspider - I'm particulary interested to hear how happy you are with the scoobysport. I was about to buy 1. I had an afterburner vortex on my 02WRX but grew tired of how loud it was.

For my new 02 STI my objective is to accentuate the burble without being too loud or having drone on the motorway. You think the scoobysport does all this? (It would only be the backbox - not full sys).

IMO the scoobysport back box is as quiet as an aftermarket system gets on the motorway. I'm talking the classic style 3.5inch exit box - I believe they do a larger exit one now. That was my main reason for swapping from a Jap style 5inch exit box - it just drove me mad on longer journeys. The main noise I get now on the motorway is road tyre noise. I can drop the clutch at a 80mph and just about hear the exhaust note drop out of the road/exhaust noise mix.

I find on tickover i get the burble I'm after and under moderate acceleration it gives a nice note - loud enough to let ppl know you're there, but not loud enough to make old ppl think you're a hooded hooligan lol. Under hard acceleration at the top end of the rev range it still sounds superb.

You could go with a prodrive back box if you want closer to 'normal' car loudness. You can always add a resonated centre section if you fit a bigger back box and wanted to quieten it down even further, but yes I'd recommend a scoobysport back box for everyday driving.

Scoobysport - feel free to send me a free box for the advertising, mine needs polishing now and its too wet to go crawling on the road

Whether they are quieter or louder than the H&S or revolution boxes of the same style I couldn't say, but they do claim to have some fancy stuff that quietens it on motorway and it seems to work.

preciate the advice funky - Sounds like exactly what I'm after. I like the finish on it too with the rolled lip and logo etched on - I'm pretty well sold on it.

Cheers.

The revolution is very unintrusive. Plenty if rumble. But the revo one is backbox & centre. Get rolled lip exit, jap one is not a good finish.

You'll get a SN discount too.

You could try the scoobyworld racebox, I have that and seem to get the same experience on the motorway as Funkyspider.

However I am changing mine to a Revolution 3inch decat for the power!

I don't know if it is true but someone on here has stated that the Revolution system has one of the best Flow/Noise ratio and is okay for trackdays even as a full decat.

The Miltek system works quite well. It has a nice burble to it, and gives some decent power gains also.
