just had my engine rebuilt...noticed there is a long number under where the tmic goes and some others here and there...what do they mean??

i know EJ20 is the type

but what might this one be 612248 ??

engines are made in sequence ie 1 2 3 4 right up to 1000 etc
so the main part of the numbers will be the number of the engine when made .
i work for nissan making the new cars and thats the system they use here is an eg of a micra engine number cg1000200 . first part is the engine type ie micra cg / next part is the engine capacity ie 1.0 cc engine size / next part is the engine number in sequence in this case engine number 200 .

not sure if that number relates to a engine number like the nissan one but you might want to ask your local dealer easy as abc .

as for the nissans there built in sequence and the numbers run from 1 to > 1million .
