Dipstick oil level?
My oil level dipstick always shows a confusing reading. After leaving the car standing overnight then wiping the dipstick and taking a reading, the oil is smeared almost the full length of it!!
I usually just take the reading a few times and look for the lowest dry patch down the stick. How do you guys check the oil?

Its maybe the fully syn oil sticking to dip stick tube and it coats the dipstick on entry or exit,Just do it a couple a times and its fine.
The oil wicks up the dipstick tube whilst the engine is running and is held in place by the vacuum created by dipstick. So you need to pull the dipstick out, wipe and leave it out (or part way in) for around 5 to 10 mins for the oil to drain from tube. Alternatively a quick blow with a short piece of clean garden hose placed over tube has the same effect..
As always, best done on flat surface when engine hasn't been run for at least an hour, ideally overnight..
