Question Planning Mods - Any Comments?

Planning my next phase of power modifications for my STi 8, any comments, suggestion or alternatives regarding my choice of mods would be appreciated:

Proposed mods:
APS SR40 Turbo
APS DR FRP/01 Fuel System
740cc Injectors + Regulator
Samco Turbo Intake pipe
Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller

Current Mods; APS 3" Exhaust, RCM Induction Kit, WRC-Tech TMIC (Similar to APS TM), Walbro 225 & EcuTek Re-map. Current output is 350/345ish.

Not necessarily worried about power outputs, its just about the experience

Thanks.

Those samco induction hoses are a lot of money & not much better than a standard pipe, just brighter! I'd go for an APS or AP hardpipe kit.

That’s interesting to know, have been looking at the APS one - does look bigger from the pics I've seen. Thanks

a mixture of turbo components to get a good result In this case a Garrett GT30 compressor core in a subaru housing, so it is still standard fit.

Yes they are bigger, I think AP do a choice of 2.5" & 3". For the 3" I think you'll need manifold spacers & a modified fuel rail to squeeze it in.

Yes this is what I am running.

WRC Tech installed it, but enough on that matter. The unit is excellent comes on boost with a wollap and keeps going all the way to the red line.

Best bet is to speak to Andy himself, this turbo is a common conversion on many STI8's.

Find an alternative to the SR40. You could have a word with Scoobymania, RCMS or Owen Developments. Even a TD05-06 20 G will get you to a genuine 380-400 bhp bracket.
Are you sure you want 740cc injectors? These are good for well over 500 bhp and this is way past what any SR 40 type turbo ever produced.
Your O/E fuel system is capable of flowing fuel for a long way past 500bhp and so as you will not be producing that power level, why change to something you do not need.
Your O/E inlet tract will flow enough air to get a long way past 400 bhp before you need to look at an expensive silicon item.

Your choice of mapper is important. Bob Rawle has done a lot of work on his own similar car and will be able to give you recommendations from practical hands on experience.

Thanks for the info on the injectors, guess I won’t be needing 740's then. not yet anyway

I'll do some more research on turbos before I decide.

oops, my bad... sorry, thought you were the other bat-fink

650's should be ok, along with the APS Pipe and AVCR as the next step up.

Do you know what power you can go up to with the uprated top mount? as you may have to go front mount

Hybrid GT30 is a good way to go, although once you start going past your 350 mark, the gearbox may not last too long

I'd suggest talking to Bob Rawle, AndyF and Mark at Lateral and come to your own conclusions
