Removing the heat shield
Another rattling heatshield, courtesy of a rusted and broken fixing of one of the three bolts holding it on (we're talking the shield under the front of the engine).
Removing the two remaining bolts would mean I could take off the offending part to quieten the din until I suss a repair but there's a cylindrical component screwed into the exhaust going through the heatshield that prevents this. Is this the lamda sensor perchance? Anyway, whatever it is, is is OK to just unscrew it from the exhaust to permit removal of the shield or will this result in an expensive DIY disaster?
Answers on a postcard, etc...
Cheers!

yep Lambda sensor and if you can get it out then do so. There not always that easy,I have known the heatshied to have been cut of so the headers could be removed to get the lambda out on a bench.
