Default ESL or power fc?

Hi all and happy xmas/new year!
Im going to be changing my ecu on my 95 classic with 2.5 conversion. I was wondering if the extra £300 the apexi costs over the esl chip was worth it? Would i get similar results, and are they both easy to set up on a rolling road? Didn't want to save money on the esl only to loose it with extra time on the setting up.

Cheers,Tim

The Apexi is a very good choice....
You could also look up the Sigma ecu thread that has run recently...
Will be available soon from a number of suppliers and ditches the MAF and has2 ignition or boost settings built in....

Are you running the 2.5 on a standard ECU at the moment?

Standard ecu with a plug in chip, resistor cut job. Not ideal i know, but using the standard injectors to,got some 740's to go in with new ecu. Had it roaded, it's running 300bhp, with cracked headers, which i've changed since(what a diference!)so expecting a bit of a hike in power with new ecu!

Power FC has the advantage of being remappable again and again as you progress with your mods, plus the Commander readout is very handy for fault finding and monitoring your data. One thing it doesn't have is any form of knock control, which is a bit ****...all it can do is show you knock readings, but can't pull the timing or anything to deal with the problem.

I have an ESL chip in my Scoob, and for what I wanted it was perfect. It was plug and play instant power.

For yourself I would go for the Apexi. With the ESL you would have to go and get a custom map put on to the chip for your specification of modifications. And then keep on doing this each time.

Apexi would be much better IMHO!
