Question Early classic ECU's

Is there any way of telling what ECU you have by looking at only the board. The reason I ask is that I have recently bought a Z5 and want to make sure I have not been conned. It does have Z5 on the cover but it is a piece of
pi55 to swap the boards.

Bought a 7D from Flea Bay and was told it was from an early STI, only to find out that the 7D was from a UK spec car. I did wonder why my WRX felt slower, can't trust some people, can you?

Thanks, Dan...

This is a z4 board (as far as i know the z5 is the same).

Max boost reads 0.9bar (not sure that the gauge is 100%), but that is into the redline, the RA from which it came does rev higher.

In normal driving conditions the new ECU does seem to give it more poke, 0.8bar max seems to kick in a bit earlier.

By the way how do you get picture on here?

Right, got the Z5 open. Screws were firm with thread-lock. Is there any features on the inside that will confirm that it is Z5. On the face of it, it looks the same or very similar to the one above. It has got the pre-soldered chip for a piggy-back board.

Free Image and Video Hosting - Photo Image Hosting Site : Photobucket.com is a free picture hosting, you upload the pictures then copy and paste the image tag into your post.

I don't think you've been conned as the z4/z5 has a better fuelling map and higher boost level so the car should feel more pokier.
The boost pressure should be about 0.9bar
