Bottom end knocking. New crank or re-grind?
Following my first post in the general section im still a bit confused as to what i need for my re-build. Ive been quoted £1150 for re grind, new shells, gaskets, fluids etc but ive now been told a re grind is the wrong option . What is the next step up to making it as reliable as possible. (new crank ??? £££)
or what else without paying stupid money
Cheers

Reading what the top engine builders do, you never regrind a Subaru Impreza crank. Buy new crank and shells, see Api for sound advice

The issue is the cranks are too narrow on the journal for most machines.
We always would fit a new crank. They aren't expensive, well under 400 quid.
