Default Stuck in Reverse! - worried

having a mare! '93 wrx

for a while I've been having a problem with the car sometimes sticking in reverse gear! - but as long as there was room behind the car, then clutch up and down and rattling gear stick it would come out again.

and also it won't go straight into fifth gear! push stick in direction of fifth 2 or 3 times and it would go in ok (not forcing)

I backed the car into the garage before and again it was stuck in reverse, so I did the usuall clutch and jiggle but was getting very close to the wall, until it got to the point that I couldn't go back anymore! - Stuck!

So, got a bit angry (as you do) and jiggled and forced the stick for a bit then it popped out - or so I thought!

the car is now stuck in reverse!
the gearstick feels like it's in neutral - but will not select/deselect any gear
wiggling stick now and I can feel the reverse gear still (so I'm guessing selector hasn't come off)

Is it likely to have slipped maybe?
is it possible I've broke something inside box?

Help!

cheers
Mark.

gear linkage maybe. Dont know about the scoobs, but on some cars there are bushes in the linkage and when these wear down it can cause the problems you are having. Maybe give David at API a call, sure he will give some advice

Sounds like a case of the ' BIG NUT' coming undone at the back of the casing where 5th and rev are housed. A common problem, unfortunately on the TY 752 case box you have to take the gearbox out to do the nut up.

On the later TY754 box it can be done by just taking the rear case off and leaving the box mostly in the car.

Good Luck, PS it needs fixing or you'l possibly do a lot moer damage.
