Default What will the stock wrx internals take?

Hi,

As the title says, what can you run the stock engine (EJ20), gearbox and clutch at on a early uk 98?

Toying with taking out a loan to upgrade mine rather than getting a newer one.

Would prob be looking at
FMIC
VFXX turbo
ECU Upgrade or piggyback.

Would i be able to run mid 350's without replacing the above mentioned items, or would i be replacing pistons, gearbox etc. If i had to replace internals what would i need?

Just weighing up the options...

running around 330 on my 97 uk turbo, has been fine so far, many are running this sort of power now and have been for a while on std internals.

Mods include:

Walbro pump
Fuelab Reg
550cc injectors
Apexi Cone filter
TD05 big 16G
Apexi power FC
Apexi AVCR @1.5 bar
Full Decat
Tubular Headers
Catch Tank
Various Samco's
Hybrid FMIC
Exedy Organic Clutch.

Gearbox would be on its limit, clutch would deffo need replacing. As for the engine, it depends on the state its is in at the moment! If in good health most would agree it would be fine.

Hi,

Thanks, engine has done 50k miles and is pushing 260bhp. It has a little bit of piston slap not normally apparent when hot. Just dont know what to do!! Its at that age where things start breaking and wearing out, but the car is worth more to me than i would get on a trade in.
