Default legacy and sti engines

a little help and advice needed my friends got a beelte and wants to put a subaru turbo lump in ive herd the sti block is stregnthend over the wrx and has forged pistons too apart from that is there other differences like the crank stronger ect also the legacy turbo engine is this any good as there 2.5s are these as strong as ive seen 2.5s in some older scoobys are these engines from this, im basically looking for a good strong engine which wont cost too much and will be reliable i apreciate any help thanks

depends on your goals with regards to power output. The wrx and sti bottom ends are the same apart from the rods and pistons. The crank is the same (based on a same year comparison). If you friend is looking for 300bhp then a standard wrx bottom end is upto the job

go for the sti which has more potential in standard form
