will a 3 inch bore exhaust bolt up to a standard downpipe ? do you need a reducer or similar ?

it will bolt straight on,ive done it with my Hayward & Scott downpipe which tapers in to 2.5 (same as original) mated to a 3" Nur Spec R system

i take it a 3inch bore back box wont bolt to a 2.5inch center even though a 3 inch center will bolt to a standard 2.5inch downpipe ?

i guess physically it would as the flanges are the same (or should be) but i personally wouldnt do it too much of a mix and match

just wondered what to do as i can get hold of an hks exhaust (center and back) which is 3inch bore but was not sure if it would fit standard downpipe ! or i can get a blitz nur spec back box which is also 3 inch bore but only if it will bolt to my 2.5 inch center decat . i have a tsl group n center and back but want something louder and the cheapest would to get the blitz back box (secondhand) but only if it will fit my center pipe ! as they are two different bore sizes !

you also need to check the length of the pipes if going for the blitz, I know the hks system comes as a centre and backbox as the lengths of the individual pipes are different to standard but overall length of the two is the same. I don't know if the blitz is like this but certainly worth checking.

I had the hks 3" with a 2.5" downpipe and it fitted together ok but I needed a gasket that had 3" bolt hole spacing but a 2.5" centre hole to get a proper seal. I think there is a fitting kit for the HKS that has this and the bolts and centre gasket but it costs about £50. Something to bear in mind if you get the HKS.
