No way! Mine just failed as well. The siren is ****. Clifford just told me my siren's internal batteries are dead and I need to replace the whole thing and get a Clifford dealer to do the job. Not on my nelly. I'm not paying someone £150 to do a job I can do myself in 20 minutes. That's an estimate of cost, obviously, but I'd be very surprised if replacing a siren by a Clifford dealer was less than a ton.

So I'm looking for a new battery pack which is inside the siren, or a replacement siren from the US where they seem to be about $40.

I seem to remember somebody on here saying that Maplin do the batteries you need for around £15.

Right, Maplins it is then. I've found someone in the US who can do me the whole new siren for $90 delivered, but if it's only £40 over here, maybe it's worth having a look.

the alarm has lifetime warrenty with original owner only, the batterys are not changable and if they are the battery will not be water proof!all it needs is a new siren but get a uk one because they can be different from us units.if it helps i can source them

Well I've taken it all apart and got the batteries out, and strangely enough, it works perfectly again now the batteries are removed. Thanks for the advice anyway though! From what I can see, a new battery pack should cost around £10-£15 and the resoldering I can do myself. I've no doubt a whole new siren would be a good idea, but what I fear is the labour for stripping out all the wiring and renewing it.

I somehow doubt that my local Clifford dealer would dismantle the existing siren, desolder the connections leaving the wiring intact, then rebuild the wiring into the new siren - which would take half an hour tops. More likely they'd say it was impossible and/or not allowed and charge me 2-3 hours labour to pull all the wiring back through the bulkhead, take the entire dash out to get at the alarm unit, then simply plug a brand new set of wiring in, then put everything back how it was. Plus charge me for the new siren as well.

Default Wrong idea!

HEY guys.....Did i mention anything to do with the batteries in the siren???!!!

All I wanted to know is about warranty on clifford!

I actually wanted clifford to check if its draining the battery of the car because its drawing a high current when car is switched off.

cheers

LOL if you reread your starting post, it basically comes down to: Can a clifford dealer 150 miles away from your brother repair an unknown fault on his alarm. No wonder it went off in a different direction. And your question was pretty much answered in the 2nd post wasn't it?

But to get back to the problem that you've now given a bit more detail about, how do you know the clifford is drawing a high current when the car is off? I'm sure they would check it out, but you might well end up paying through the nose if it's not their alarm that's causing the problem.

LOL, my thread was to find out about the warranty issue with clifford, thats all. Anyhow, it sounds not a good idea to take the car to them as they seem to rip u off at any chance they could.

The reason for the post is that the car had been draining the battery for many months and i've eliminated all possible current draws from the car apart from the clifford alarm as its abit difficult to find where the live source is since all wires are black.

cheers guys.

Well I've got to say mine doesn't seem to drain the battery at all, so if yours IS, it's definitely not supposed to - let's put it that way. If you're sure there are no other current draws apart from the Clifford, then it must be a Clifford warranty issue, which they would have to fix for free.

The only thing is, are you absolutely sure that's where the draw is? If you haven't tried it already, how about inserting an ammeter into the positive line coming off the battery. with the alarm disarmed and everything turned off, doors shut etc. There should be no current draw at all, or very little if you've got memory functions on your stereo or similar. Then blip the alarm on and see what the current draw shows up as. Sorry if you've already tried this. But at least then you'd have the draw isolated down to the alarm activation.
