Default exhaust de-catting - what down pipe do i need?

I'm currently running a full milltek 3" exhaust system with sports cat in the down pipe.

If i want to remove the cat does anyone know what make/model downpipes will fit?

Cheers,

According to scoobyworld (I think) the sports cat downpipe is very close to the de cat pipe in terms of spool up and bhp. It also means that you will be road legal and pass emission tests.

After that any 3" system will mate to the Milltek as they use standard flanges.

If im correct a decat pipe only produces slightly more BHP than a sports cat and you have the advantage of passing mots with a sports cat.

I run a complete de-cat on my Bugeye with a Janspeed / BRD 3" de-cat downpipe (mated to a 3" revolution)...as suggested by Bob Rawle

Keep the sports cat is my advice. I went from a magnex decat to a Scoobyworld sports-cat and noticed no difference.

I tend to use the car as a daily driver with occasional use over to Newcastle

It often has the kids in as well LOL

The other thing is I havn't paid off the car loan yet so I have to be carefull

Mind you Ninnybobs owns his 400BHP bugeye and has been known to drag it on standard gearbox / internals / clutch !!! He has had to change the clutch recently though

And new age 5 speeds (such as Andy's WRX) are only comfortable on average up to about 330lbft of torque; torque is what kills gearboxes more than bhp. Much over 300lbft and harsh use can kill them, past that it seems to be partially down to luck and sometimes down to using them gently. Ninnybobs seems to have about the best record for power/torque over lots of miles on many standard WRX bits.

Agree that with the STi 6 speeder, and you'd have to be spending serious money on the engine to break it.

cheers for your thoughts Pippy & Hades.

So if i went for any significant increase in power I'd risk killing the gearbox eg a VF35 and mapped again to suit ? (it's already Ecutek'd).
