If I was you i'd wait till I had all my mods, bang em all in on one session with the remap & u will get 1 big power increse which will put a big smile on your face, rather than a few small increases which could possibly melt pistons & put a hole in your pocket. But its up to you.

If you have a later ecu and are doing an Ecutek remap its the first one that's the expensive one at around 500 as it involves the Ecutek license cost so thats just something you need to factor into your mods. Following remaps are the mappers time only so are cheaper, and possibly quicker to do as the base map is already modified from standard. I had my first map done on a fairly standard car and will have another done when I do up/down pipe etc
I can't see why FMIC alone would 'require' a map as some ppl change the full exhaust system without a map which has more of an impact on the engine management. Having said that, Ive not heard many ppl doing FMIC as their first mod. Borrowing a knocklink unit for a week or so after fitting it will probably tell you whether you are running 'safe' , you could buy and fit the sensor and maybe borrow a knocklink box ?

Some cars seem to run ok without a remap after fitting a FMIC, some don't, mine is an MY00 and it ran **** after fitting a FMIC, which ment i had to go and buy a bigger turbo and get it remapped sooner than i had planned.
As bowsaaa said your best buying everything you want, fitting it all together and getting it mapped once.
