Default Which Engine Oil recommendations

Hi All,

Just check my oil level and its below the "low point" so I need to top it up, what would you recommend?

My car is a Euro import MY03 WRX PPP?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Millers CFS is an old product that is no longer up to current top spec for a fully synth oil. I used to swear by Silkolene ProS 5W40 (tried 10W50 and found it took too long to warm and the car didn't run as well). More recently stumbled on a bargain at Euro Car Parts, who stock Fuchs (the people who make Silkolene) Titan Supersyn SL 5W40 in 25l drums for about 86 quid. Based on a 4.5l drop, that's about 16 quid per change. If you don't know what oil was put in at the last service then a clean drop may be adviseable, as different oils have different contents that can mix badly.

have to disagree with the comment about Millers CFS, you must have out of date information as it is one of the newest "triple ester" based oil stocks on the market........................

only other manufacturer currently in the same ball park (IMO) is Motul with their 300v range

My info came from "oilman" expressed in a PM to me after reading I was using it. Seemed like genuine concern as I am no longer a customer of his as he can in no way match the price I get the Fuchs stuff. Not going to get into a technical debate however as I don't fully understand the subject, relying on quality information to be provided by those that do. Maybe Simon will call by shortly to justify his concerns expressed to me. The Fuchs oil I recommended however he fully accredits as exceptional quality. Each to their own.
