Clutch & lightened flywheel STi8
After having TD05 20g fitted looks like I need a new clutch. Running approx 360/370 bhp any ideas on next clutch or best place to get one (cheapest), should I change flywheel for a lightened one?????

Changing the flywheel for a lighter one will help the engine rev easier. The down side is that the flywheel will not be as smoothing thus the engine may seem a bit rougher. Before you get your lightened flywheel check the size of clutch fitted to your car. I say this as I bought a lightened flywheel of a reputable dealer, even the manufacteurs website said it would fit. But it was not the right size. If you decide not to go for the lightened flywheel insist that the flywheel is skimmed prior to fitting of the clutch to remove any high spots on the flywheel surface.

If you're quick you may be able to snap up a new uprated flywheel (for a 6 speed)in the FS section. Giveaway price. Either buy a decent aftermarket one or dont bother.
Uprated Exedy Organic clutch for £325 (thats for a 5 speed - ask about 6 speed) delivered from AS Performance (stockcar). Superb clutches.

That is the advice Alyn gave me

Price of a 6 speed AP Clutch is a bit frightening, can anyone give me any other ideas?

Yes. Uprated Exedy Organic clutch. Good for 400/400.
I had a used one on my car for 18months in which I probably did around 200 full bore launches (double if you include burnouts), and its only just gone due to accidently launching in 2nd gear and smoking the clutch all the way up the strip:
YouTube - Subaru- Drag racing - what happens when you launch in 2nd
The OE replacement version is only around £120.

Exedy do a "Racing Series" organic & paddle clutch, where the parts are supplied in Pink, Exedy branded boxes.
These have clutch covers with an increased clamping force of 40% above standard.
These up rated covers are easily identified because the metal cover has a bright shiny finish.
Next step up would be the Exedy Hyper Single.
Mark.

An AP Racing clutch will carry those figures with relative ease. They're on our (current) website if you want to take a look. Scooby Mania extensively tried and tested.
There are much higher rated clutches available (out as far as 475lb/ft) on organic plates that are more than useable, then you're onto paddle style clutches and carbon clutches, then up to and including triple carbon clutches if you're doing drag stuff in a Big HP car.
