Default HKS induction filter....oiled or not?

I just bought a pair of HKS mushroom filters on ebay for my project van...
I was under the impression they were sponge filters and therefore not oiled....but a mate has told me they are oiled? can anyone tell me if these are OK to use on my 02 WRx engine or will they blow the MAF...and if anyone has experience of running these filters? cheers

ive just been reading reviews on the filters...it does seem theres mixed feelings about em....some say they are the danglies form performance perspective - others have mentioned the filtration issues.

If they aren't good you do have a wide selection of IKs to pick from (Apexi is my fav but i've got 1 and am happy with it).
Any reason why you want an Ik on your 02WRX (if you do a search it is a very contentious point with people on here)

cheers guys this is very helpful...makes me feel better about my purchase....

as for why i want an induction kit.....well first the engine is in my VW campervan ...(still work in progress) i think given the choice I may have not bothered with one, and second i dont have room for an airbox.......also I didnt get one when i got the engine...so it solves more than one problem for me.

this is what its going in....dont worry its not on std brakes and suspension...

theres more about it here if your interested
VWKD - VW Camper and Beetle Conversion from aircooled to watercooled
looks crap atm but im currentyl working through trial fitting everything underneath....befroe the big clean and paint.....
