Default Surging?

Help please

I have a MY1999 uk classic, just had the engine rebuilt, and had a few modifications done at the same time in preparation for a remap, being sti8 intercooler, ported hearders, lightned flywheel, and a sports cat.

Since having this done im experiencing surging, especially in the higher gears.
Sometimes it's quite extreme, for instance when boosting i have seen the rev needle bounce round the dial.
Other times it's better, though the acceleration still comes in waves.

The firm that rebuilt the engine said reason for the surging is becuase of the modifications i have done and my car isn't suited to these, the problem will be solved when the remap is done.

They also checked the MAF which is fine.

I can undersatand that my car isn't "in sync" with the mods at the moment though i dont think it should be driving quite like this, even without the remap.

I have done abit of research (on scoobynet) and thinking it maybe the boost solenoid, though i don't know how to check this.

Any advice/thoughts welcome.

Thanks

Tim, my first thoughts would be that the fuel pump cant keep up with demand and the pressure in the fuel rail is surging.

Finch, it could be something similar but unlikely. I would start by checking for fault codes

Tim, it might be worthwhile modifying the breather system as this is where the oil contamination is coming from.

Simply remove the breather pipes [2] from the turbo inlet pipe, blank off the holes, then return the breather pipes [extended as required] to a catch tank or just vent them to atmosphere perhaps with a small filter on each pipe.

Goodbye oil contamination
Paul.
