Engine Light @90mph or on hard acceleration
hi there
ive had engine light issues for a little while. i stopped putting in vpower and used regular petrol which after 100 miles, saw the engine light go off - success! But, whenever i get to 90mph or go any quicker, the engine light flashes and then eventually it will stay on. if i drive at a steady 70mph for 100+miles then the light goes off again. if i shift down for some rapid acceleration, this also provokes the light to come on sometimes.
could someone out there help diagnose the problem please???

What year is it? Finding such faults can be time consuming with that in mind it would be quicker and a lot easier to get a diagnostic done by Subaru. Then decide on how you want to sort it.

er it has a prodrive exhaust but i guess thats it. according to the manual, the engine light flashes when theres a misfire and goes permanent when theres a exhaust emission system failure but who knows what the cause could be.

Trust that the plugs were fitted correctly. I had a loose lead and had a few misfires on a trip [once off the motorway fixed the lead back on] basically sent some dirt onto one of the o2 sensors and my light came on. Cleaned that and no probs since.

My guess would be one of the following three (from a fellow bugeye owner with past CEL problems):
1. EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature)
2. Misfire on Cylinder 3
3. Camshaft sensor
By the way, none of these problems have ever caused me a problem and have not re-surfaced for over 6 months. I would advise buying a PSi3 Data Monitor for piece of mind.

thanks chaps. i think i fitted everything back on correctly. i changed the plugs cos the light came on. stopping using vpower helped i think.
im hoping it is a sensor problem - you can buy em off ebay cheap. its the diagnosis and labour costs that are the worry. hopefully the guys'll be able to pin point it.
my cambelt was changed at 50k but im now on almost 96k - is it due at 100k or 110k and is this a possible reason for the light?
