Question Just lost some boost pressure!

Wierd! took car out this morning it felt fine, Was watching the boost guage peak at 1.2 kg/cm2 (17 psi) and then suddenly watched it drop to 1 kg/cm2 (14.3 psi)while in fifth gear at around 4500 rpm but thought maybe I lifted the throttle a little with out thinking much about it. Took the car out tonight and Now the car boosts to the same as it did before in a previous scoobynet post, (IE) 1 kg/cm2 peak(14.3 psi)! The car is deffinately now slower! How come??? 1 kg/cm2 compared to 1.2 kg/cm2 which equates as 17 psi down to 14 psi. Is there some sort of control valve that maybe faulty that could do this???

Car is a uk 97 turbo 2000 with ppp ecu, magnex bbox and centre straight pipe and K&n panel filter, ran on v max petrol.

The car was boosting at 1kg/cm2 when the ppp ecu was fitted which was too low (around 14.3 psi peak)
I then cleaned out the little restrictor going to the turbo actuator and re-set the ecu by dissconecting the battery for a few hours. That brought the peak boost up to 1.2 kg/cm2 ( 17 psi)

Any one have any ideas how I have lost power and peak boost?????

Hi Alyn. checked out the pipes again tonight and no oil to be seen any where. The engine is not over filled with oil either as its up to the correct mark when cold and never goes above the mark Hot mark when the oil is Hot. The pipes were not realy dirty or full of oil when cleaned to be honest either, I just put the extra boost down to this as I had done an ecu re-set before and it made no difference but when I done that pipe and an ecu it worked for 3 days but know we are back to square one.

Edit to say after our talk on saturday and what you said about a worn engine and turbo and accurate boost guage etc I had just about convinced myself everything was fine untill the pipe clean and ecu re-set.

Cleaned out the re-strictor pipe and T piece going to the actuator again and boost has risen back to 1.2 kg/cm2. Engine oil not over filled and there was nothing as far as I could see in any of the pipe or T piece
