Default Winter storage?

Hi guys,

I recently bought my first '95 WRX (great fun). Although winter is soon approaching, I want to put her into storage in my garage for six months.

Shes in a heated garage and will be getting her own winter coat soon (car cover), But from a technical point of view. What would you recommend I do so damage is avoided while not being used, regarding the following:-

Battery - disconnect, or leave on charger, or run once a month?

Oil - Change now, or when she arises next year?

Start her up once a week or once a month or never?

Radiator water?

Petrol - Whole tank, or as little as possible?

Basically anything I can do to keep her well during her long sleep would be appreciated?

Thanks.

Does it have tracker? If so don't leave it too long between running. I would start her up once a week anyway to make sure all is OK. Make sure the engine gets warm, switch on the air-con if it has it to make sure the seals keep in good condition and it doesn't lose refridgerant.

So long as there's plenty of antifreeze (corrosion inhibitor) then I wouldn't worry.

Petrol can go stale. I would keep it fairly empty and put some fresh stuff in it once or twice over the winter if it needs it.

Tyres can suffer if left standing for 6 months. Take the wheels off and leave the car sitting on axle stands.

or better still, get some winter tyres and go have some fun.

No its not a p*ss take, I run several cars. I agree ,it probably is great for adverse conditions, but as I have a garage and have no need to run it over the winter, and its in very good condition, I wanted to know how to store a car properly.

Thanks for the advice 'Brit in Japan'.
