Default Stuttering 4-5k

Hi, ive had my scoob for about 2 weeks now and it seems to hold back and stutter from 4-5k rpm, noticable in 3rd and 4th - not tried 5th yet (too fast on public roads!!!)

It idles ok with maybe the odd drop by 50-100rpm every now and then. Its a ppp wrx 02 plate with 40k on the clock - ive read loads on here about MAF's etc but i havent got anything to compare it to, as in i havent driven another scooby.

Ive also timed it from 60-100 and i'm getting 12 secs, the same as quoted for a standard car - should the ppp make much of a difference here? The uk300 which i believe has the same ppp as mine quotes around 10 secs for this.

Its going to subaru friday for a test drive and fault check - is this worth it? I live in Eastbourne on the south Coast - does anyone know of anywhere i can take it other than to a dealer - £65 + vat for an hours labour!!!

Any info or advice would be great. Nick

Money is on a failing MAF. If you can do an ECU reset and it's worse it would point to the MAF as the ECU will compensate over time as it fails.

Had the ECU reset and WOW! Powers back with no stutter - it now also rev's cleanly past 6000rpm too. Timed the 60-100 sprint earlier and got around 10sec's a massive improvement from before.
