Default Auto guage

I have owned 2 Auto guages now, and both have rattled when on full boost. Has anyone else had this problem or know a cure?

i fitted an auto gauge to mine about a month ago and that rattled on full boost , also has a very bouncy needle and never seemed acurate (sometimes showing 17psi and other times 12psi ) so took it out and threw it in the bin ! fitted a different gauge now and all is perfect ! so the only good thing an auto gauge is good for is wiping your a r s e with the instructions when you run out of poo roll

I bought a boost gauge a few years ago for my bugeye. On fitting I removed what seemed to be a protective bung from the pipe connection. Once fitted it sounded like a rather miffed rattle snake. When I contacted the dealer and explained what I had done they exp-lained that the bit I removed was a restrictor that is used to dampen the fluctuation of the gauge.

1. Did you do similar?
2. If not you need to make a restrictor if I remember correctly the advised a 1mm hole . E-mail autogauge and see if there should have been a piece with your gauge and if so inform them there was not and hopefully they may send you one for free.

mate of mine is a dealer for autogauge , Nick from the gaugeplace
i have 6 of his gauges and yes, some are hard to see in the daylight. but for 'value' i don't think they can be beaten IMO

i sent him the link for this thread
his reply is

Hi Dazza,,Can you post this up for me mate on my behalf...THANKS

In regards faulty or inaccurate AUTOGAUGE gauges. If any gauges are purchased from GAUGEPLACE that are legitimate AUTOGAUGE items..they are fully covered by a 100% guarantee..ANY PROBLEMS AND THE ITEM IS EITHER REPLACED OR A FULL IMMEDIATE REFUND GIVEN.

However...BE AWARE, That a large number of AUTOGAUGE products advertised on EBAY are NOT genuine AUTOGAUGE and are in fact copies made in THAILAND or HONG KONG. The boxes are the same (these have now been changed) but the gauges inside although identical are not the same and are in manyways inferior..quite often one of the common errors is the rattly boost or in fact no senders etc included.

The reason that AUTOGAUGE have now restricted UK distribution in the UK to go through us only is to eradicate this problem..it will continue, but hopefully will lessen. But problems like this always arise when the tendency is to pay the lowest price rather than get the product from an authorised distributor. All new genuine Autogauge products feature a silver holographic stamp. As well as details of the country of origin. All the old style square boxes have been replaced and all genuine gauges will soon be only available in the new shape box.
Again..I repeat..ANY PROBLEMS IN ANY WAY WILL BE COVERED IF THE GAUGE WAS PURCHASED FROM GAUGEPLACE.

It is the nature of any electrical mass produced item to occasionally go wrong. this is normal in absolutely any field..wether it be TVs. Stereos..etc..The difference between a crap product..and one that consistently provides its customers with a quality product..is the back up available from its manufacturers and suppliers.
