Default FUEL PUMP NOISE

These last few days my fuel pump has decide to start buzzin, you can hear it outside of the car easily enough. Also when you put your ear to the rear wheel, the same side as the pump you can hear lots of hissing.BUT this only happens after a half hour or so of driving. Its a walbro 255 around 18 months old.Is this a sign that the pump is about to fail?

I have a car that from time to time has a loud whine from the fuel pump, so much so you can here it from 10 yards away with the engine idling.
The Walbro pump was new 3mths ago.
I suspect it is something trapped in the pump and I will take it out and replace soon. For the cost of a new pump, £80, it is cheaper than a new engine.
Problem is finding half an hour to do it.

Me too, if it's making a noise, replace it or it will let you down at the most inconvenient time without warning (apart from the noise)

Will be louder when fuel low as pump won't be submerged in petrol..

Very occasionally I hear my walbro 'humm' for a second (usually having just slowed to a crawl in traffic), but nothing that loud. Have been told it's due to the variable speed controller..?
