Normal running 90 to 100 , high revs up to 130 , that was from a peugeot 307 2 litre i was driving the other day down the motorway as it's got oil temp bar graph on the rev counter . Hope it helps .

My sender is in the sump, so I expect to see slightly lower temps. On the road I've never seen it over 100c Have to say, I would be a bit concerned if I saw 120c in normal conditions as although a good full synthetic oil is happy at that, it's getting close to its recommended max (usually around 125 with a safety margin to 150)

My car shows around 110 when fully warmed up, and has gone over this a bit in warm weather. That has been with 2 different gauges with the sensor in the same place, above #3. I don't think the gauges are accurate, neither of them have been particularly expensive ones. I know where the temps are normally though, so I can tell when the oil is up to temperature and if it gets hotter than normal I will also know.

Normal driving sees between 80 and 90 degrees at gallery no 3 (10 degrees less when in the sump) using defi sensors, harder driving pushes it above these, but no higher than 115, with long bursts of power.
110 in normal driving i would be trying to find out why its getting that high!

Much as Steven says above.
On track in the summer if my oil gets to 125C I come in for 20 mins to let it cool down. It takes hard driving to get to 125C even on the hottest days of the year.
Some information to help you.
Is the guage accurate?
Thicker oil eg15W-50 runs hotter than thinner oil eg10W-40
For some reason, New Age cars generally run hotter than Classics.
Fitting a low temperature water thermostat is likely to reduce oil temperature by up to 10C.
Is your water cooling system efficient.
I did run a heat blanket on top of the WRX 95 Wagon Engine, below the inlet manifold to help keep heat in the engine but keep the inlet manifold cool. I had to remove it as oil temperatures were too high.
On the STi 6 Wagon Engine there is also a heat blanket but that does not appear to run too hot.
I have been told by oil manufacturers that their fully synthetic oil is OK up to 140C but that temp should not be exceeded and best to run below that limit.
On VAG cars with an oil temp guage as standard, I have noticed the red line starts at 140C Flat out in Germany I have run around 130C in an Audi for hundreds of miles over many long journies.
