what would you do? remap?
hi, i am thinking about having a remap on my car, but am not sure what way to go?
ecutek (or something the same)
apexi power fc (new ecu)
from what i can tell the ecutek is around £499 + vat and the power fc is around £420 + mapping.
so these will be about £200 difference.
my engine mods so far..
v6 sti
3" downpipe, heat wrapted
blitz nur spec r
k&n pannle filter
255 fule pump
some make of boost valve
knock link
bov
the last time it was on the RR i got 308 bhp and 290 torque, and he said it was running fine.
but every now and then, well 2 time now, when i am giving it a really really good trashing, the knock link goes onto the red at just before redline, so this has got me thinking about getting a remap done.
i prob will not be doing alot of mods in the future as got my 1st little one on the way, but i like the idea of the power fc and its easyness to change things if needed, but the extra ££ puts me off.
what would be the best for me?? or any other ideas?
thanks Ian

The KL may just be picking up engine noise, they have a habit of that at high revs. Ask a proffesional, but not a Mapper as he will prob just advise remap

If it is engine noise then it should build to a big red.. if it flashes from nothing or lower level of noise to big red then it is likely to be det.

normal driving, everything is cool.
when really giving it some beans, it slowly goes up the kl scale, normally it only reaches the 1st to second amber light at peek reves (from a slow increase over the reves range)
but the other night it hit the red at the vvv top of the reves (i am prob went up to about 7.500-7800 reves 8250 liminter)
could it may be a bad batch of vpower?

Are you sure the limiter is that high?
Are you sure you didn't click the limiter?
probably needs boost as well as V-Power if you are going to drive it like that often.
