Default ppp ecu???

Hi all. just purchased a ppp ecu for a 97 turbo. Looks like the metal case has been off before for some reason and was just wondering if there is any way you can tell if its the real thing. The case has the sti code with dbv on it aswell and also where you plug the connectors in it has dbv on. My original has none of these. Is there any way of telling inside?
