Auto box question-quicker take off !
On my old Legacy manual if I wanted a quick take off then I could raise the revs and slip the clutch a little !
I now have a Subaru with auto box ( an older one - 1998 vintage )
What would happen - damage wise - if I kept my left foot on the brake and raised the revs to ?? say1500 ?? before releasing the brake and flooring the throttle ? I haven't yet tried it as I don't want to damage the autobox but would doing this cause damage ? Burn something out ? The workings of the autobox remain a mystery to me .
Any thoughts ?
Thanks

if it's anything like my 200sx which i use for a bit of drifting, you will heat the gearbox oil to such an extent that the car will feel sluggish and it feels like a slipping clutch. (saying all that, it does take about 10 minutes of proper abuse to get to that point)
i think it's probably quicker in acceleration by just hammering the accelerator rather than holding the brake
