Default Cold air induction kit - is it worth it?

Hi

I have a 53 reg STI whcih is fairly stcok except for a stainless steel exhaust from the CAT back. I was just on ebay there and these cold air induction kits caught my eye - all chrome etc and the seller talks about an extra 7 to 13 bhp etc. The cost about £60 delivered.

Should I waste time on this or not? Do they fit handy enough?

Any advice appreciated - thanks!

Don't bother as you won't get any gains and will probably suffer a loss. A good quality panel filter (K&N, Green etc) in the original airbox is recommended. The only real need to change to an induction kit on an Impreza is when you fit a front mounted intercooler....and that's only because the pipework goes through where the airbox is fitted.

Default Re: Air Flow

I also considered the fitting of a CAIK but decided against due to the issues listed.

You may want to as i have removed some of the rubber seal at the front of bonnet to allow air to flow underneath from the front ?

cheers

You would most definately not want to install one of these without remap immediately after, unless you want to risk destroying your engine! IIRC the maf needs to be rescaled to take account of this mod.
