Standard boost pressure (MY 95 STI RA)?
Hi,
Does anyone have an idea of the standard peak boost pressure on an STI RA MY 95?
I'm getting around 0.7 bar at about 5000 revs and nothing more higher up the rev range.
The car is standard apart from the Jap exhaust which is blowing at the moment, could that be a cause of low boost pressure?
Cheers,
Lee DT.

Yeah, 1 bar is more accurate. Here's a rundown of the boost from different ECU's....
WRX/STi Saloon ECU's 2C, U8, W6, W9 - As above, 11.47psi held to redline. Fuel-cut 14.57psi
WRX (1995/96) ECU Z4 - 12.71psi, dropping to 11.78psi @ 6600rpm. Fuel-cut 15.65psi.
UK/Aus/Euro ECU's V7, 7D and 6D - 11.47psi, dropping to 9.47psi at 6600rpm. With Fuel-cut @ 14.87psi
UK Prodive ECU - 13.33psi (peaks to 13.64 @ 5600rpm, drops to 12.71psi @ 6600rpm). Fuel-Cut 15.65psi.
STi RA (1996) ECU 7K - 13.17psi (peaks to 13.64psi @ 5800rpm). Fuel-Cut 15.96psi.
WRX Wagon ECU V9 - 10.55psi dropping to 6.84psi (starts to drop @ 5000rpm). Fuel-Cut 13.79psi
As you can see, the 96 RA peaks at 13.64psi (or 0.94 BAR), so there's something amiss.....

Hi,
The ecu is an SB , pink lettering with the chip in the spare socket which I've been told would have been fitted originally.
Also the car is a 1995 STI RA not a 96.
So I need to check for air leaks, original recirculating valve diaphram possibly split?
Cheers,
Lee.

Seems like a good place to start. When mine lost boost (again, down to about 0.7 bar), it turned out to be the plastic hardpipe that goes in the bottom of the intercooler. One of the screws had fallen out, and another was loose. If you have a huge "whooshing" sound under boost, it could be that.....
