Default Speedline Alloys - Wheel Nuts - Where ??

hey Guys,

Me again,

Just a quicky,

Where's the best place to get a set of wheel nuts for my Speedline Alloys. I have given up on the wanted posts and now need to get a set of 16 asap (Got Locking Wheel Nuts).
Also some price indication would be cool.

Thanks In Advance

If their genuine Speedlines from Subaru they should have a steel inset pressed in to allow the use of standard Subaru wheel nut's

If their not genuine Subaru supplied Speedlines then Speedline should be able to provide some sleeved nuts.

My Mate has RB5 Alloys (Speedline) on his MY99 Turbo and the wheel nuts from his fit mine perfectly. The standard nuts I have seem to go too deep into the wheel for comfort

They are 17" Speedline Wheels with prodrive centers so god knows what they are..

Yes,I know what you mean. The pressed tapered insert on the wheel has a much larger diameter than the oem lug nut,so it appears to sit too far in.

I got some from Scoobyworld, infact I have some spare If you're located anywhere waay down South

If they have steel inserts then they are designed to be fitted with the standard nuts. The critical dimension is the diameter at the bottom of the insert, not the top.

Far far be it for me to disagree with you,but the oem nuts look decidedly dodgy sat in Speedline wheels.

They leave about 25% of the tapered land exposed and tend to 'cut in'....surely better to use the intended Speedline nuts and utilise the full land imho...(gulp!)

If you have a think about how the taper of the nut and the taper of the insert interact, there's no edge to 'cut' into the insert. What your actually seeing is the process that's obscured normally by the nut and that's why it looks unusual.

We've used this arrangement for many years without any problem whatsoever in service. This design of insert was fitted to wheels on 200 Series McRae, 444 RB5, 1000 P1, 300 UK300, 500 WR1 and the countless other cars fitted with our wheels without any issues in service. It's unlikely to have become a problem now...

Speedline made these wheels specifically to fit the std nuts so I guess the std nuts are the intended parts.

When you buy Prodrive Alloys new there is a leaflet in the box describing the nuts to be used, which are Subaru nuts. And the wheel have inserts.
