hi,was hoping someone can help?went out in my `99 classic impreza today and noticed it was abit juddery after being warmed up??and on top of that a knocking/loud tapping noise coming from around the turbo area has came as well??can anyone help plz matt brum

 

plz help anyone?? the knocking/loud tapping is there when the car is idle?and sounds like its coming from around the left hand side of the intercooler? when driving it has one or two little splutters and carries on as normal?? its a 99 uk turbo,ppp,dv,induction etc...plz any suggestions??

 

When my engine threw a big end bearing it made a knocking noise and it sounded like it was coming from below the turbo when you had a listen from the open bonnet. At idle it wasn't there but from 1800rpm upwards it was like a hammer was being hit on the block - very metallic sounding. When I was feathering it home it started to bunnyhop so I pulled over and called the RAC.

 

ok thanks mate will make a note!!i have only heared it when im sat at lights or when shes ticking over?when im driving the sound of the rest of the car deafened it out?i hate having noises i dont know about,but thanks all the same mattw
