Default uk turbo 2000 performance upgrades?

Well im back again after a year out of ownership, this time im back with a 99/T turbo wagon.

What's the best way to up the power without lowering reliability. im nto asking for massive power gains or owt, but if there's a direct replacement turbo that will help things along i wouldnt say no

Cheers
Nick

Nick,

No, you shouldn't just change the turbo as a first mod. The best stage one is to put a sports cat in the Down pipe, replace the centre section with a decat version, get a decent backbox and airfilter, an upgraded fuel pump and then go for an Ecutek remap from someone reputable. This will see you up around the 270-280 bhp and ft lbs range. The car will be significantly improved.

If you want to go further add ported headers and a VF34/35 turbo to that with upgraded turbo hoses and you'll be around the 310-320bhp ftlbs mark. This is the stage I'm at. The car's performance is very strong indeed!

Can't recommed API and Bob Rawle highly enough.

thanks for the reply do you know what power the boxer will run safely before the need to change internals? also im after a new clutch but i dont want something harsh, i do alot of comuting and have a bit of a play at the end of the day (i live in cornwall where there are loads of twisty fast roads ect) so the best of both worlds would be great.

Thanks again for the above, i'll look into it! also could you reccomend and exhaust that is good for power gains but does'nt creat too much noise?

310-320 is about the max you wanna go to, they will run 350 but tend not to last too long at that sort of power.

full decat and remap will see about 260bhp which will be a big diference without changing the turbo
